I'd been drifiting away from the Harry Potter fandom for some time; I still read fic, but only of known authors or from recs. I actually found a new fandom:

Yes, Torchwood. First infected by [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge, now I'm trawling throught the fandom. Knowing the amount of bad!fic in any fandom (this is my fourth now) I started with recs lists and comms and have found some excellent fic. This was all without ever having seen an episode of the show! I remedied that quickly through youtube, watching pirated episodes in ten-minute chuncks. Some of the first season episodes were afwul, some were excellent. The first episode of the second season was the best. James Marsters was awesome, Ianto was awesome (Ianto is always awesome), Jack was hot, Tosh was cool (and hitting on Captain John), Owen was sarcastic. I even liked Gwen, up until the 'ring, what ring? oh, that ring' exchange. No chemistry at all, those two.

Of course a new fandom spawns baby fandoms, which now include RPS (a slippery slope I've went down before) and John Barrowman. The first includes Gareth David-Lloyd, James Marsters, JB, Scott Gill and David Tennant. Finding good fic proves to be somewhat of a challenge: I have two writers and one recslist at the moment.
The second includes listening to his music (I adore his version of 'Loch Lomond'; the way he switches between American and Scottish makes me laugh), finding interviews and gigs on youtube and secretly wanting to read 'Anything Goes'. Also looking at pics of him and Scott, as they are incredibly cute, handsome and look so young it is unbelievable.
Of the things scrounged of youtube I liked 'The making of me', the interview with Charlotte Church and the episode of 'Never mind the Buzzcocks' the most. The interviews on Loose Women are also good fun. The last interview, linked to by [livejournal.com profile] lostiawen even has a bit of Scott, which is so rare as to be a novelty. He even speaks!

So yes, new obsession, will talk about it more in the new year! Possibly even make some recs posts. Yes, miracles do happen, even Kayleigh posting more than every two months ;-).
